This week should see the opening of the
new RealAudio page, packed full of all the best full-length interviews with
John, plus a good portion of the Los Angeles "Palace" solo concert. Also
included will be selected songs from some of the better rare PiL concerts,
which will be rotated on a regular basis.
Look for the upcoming unveiling of a new
look for the PiL Homepage!
And also coming very soon... John Lydon's
"Sun" video... stay tuned!
January 23rd, 1998
John Lydon was recently interviewed for
an upcoming issue of Loaded Magazine. Look for this issue very soon. It
will be featured along with an interview with actor Dennis Hopper.

Also MTV's "other" station, M2, recently
showed the most requested songs for various radio stations across the US.
On the list for a local Cincinnati, Ohio radio station was none other than
John Lydon's "Sun". Better late than never, right?

And finally, this tidbit appeared in a December
issue of the Vancouver Province. It was taken from an article entitled,
"The 100 Smartest Things Hollywood Has Done Lately". It appeared on Monday,
December 29, 1997:
29. ABC decided to edit portions of a "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher"
episode in which guest Harvey Fierstein said to fellow guest Mike Reagan
that Reagan and his father should expletive-off and guest Johnny Lydon called
fellow guest Lynn Redgrave a 'bitch'.

I forgot to include this a couple of days
ago...
In the December 25th, 1997 - January 8th, 1998 issue of Rolling Stone there
is a small snippet regarding John Lydon.
On pages 177 and 178, in the article entitled "101 Reasons to Watch TV"
by David Wild, there are two references to John.
#35. Seeing John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) prevail against a disgruntled
drummer before Judge Judy. Next on the People's Court, Ed Koch will hear
a class action suit filed by everyone who was shocked to learn that Sid
Vicious wasn't appearing at the Sex Pistols reunion.
#36. The unusually heated Politically Incorrect panel of John Lydon, Harvey
Fierstein, Michael Reagan and Lynn Redgrave. Lydon's best group in years.

Happy New Year everyone! Well I'm back from
my incredibly wonderful vacation - it was much too short as always. (I'm
sure you're all heart-broken to see the "PiL wreath" go. But don't worry,
it'll be back next year!) And I wouldn't dream of returning without a little
bit of news...
I found a very good quality 8"x10" b/w Virgin
promo pic (with a "Psycho's Path" press release) in an L.A. store last week.
The press release it came with was written on Virgin letterhead with some
contact numbers regarding publicity. It read the same as what's on Virgin's
John Lydon section of their site, verbatim. The funny part is that I only
paid $2.50 for it!
There is a British magazine titled "loaded".
Last month's issue featured a fashion section that had a photo of a wax
figure of John modeling some clothing. I haven't been able to find it yet
- everywhere I go, they're sold out. Keep looking for this - apparently
most every issue mentions something or another about John.
And according to the message board, John
was apparently interviewed in Vox magazine back in August/September. It
was a three page interview, with some very good pics. Anybody happen to
have this? Drop me a line, if you do.
Also, apparently the Judge Judy show was
rebroadcast. If anyone saw it, let me know if it was the same as the original
airing.
Finally, the RealAudio page is still in
the works, as well as some more video clips. Any requests can be mailed
to me.

This one slipped by me until today...
Lydon Brings Anarchy To 'Judge Judy' (Monday November 24 10:03 PM EST)
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Punk rocker John Lydon successfully
defended himself on an episode of TV's "Judge Judy" Monday, but
not before the stern jurist lectured the former Sex Pistol about his lack
of respect. Lydon was
being sued for breach of contract and assault and battery by drummer Robert
Williams, who briefly rehearsed with Lydon earlier this year prior to an
American concert tour.
Both sides agreed to have the dispute settled on the hit syndicated show,
and to be bound by Judy Sheindlin's ruling.
As Williams related his side of the story, a wide-eyed Lydon sent the courtroom
into hysterics either by interjecting or making faces. "If
you can't behave, sir, I'm going to show you the door," a frustrated
Sheindlin told the famously acerbic musician at one point.
Williams said he was annoyed about having to share a hotel room on the tour,
and alleged he was subsequently head-butted at a restaurant by Lydon.
When Lydon was allowed to speak,
Williams called him "Mr. Liar," and Sheindlin yelled, "I'm
in charge of this asylum!"
Lydon denied the assault allegation, and accused Williams of walking out
on him. He produced his manager and tour manager to speak in his defense.
Sheindlin, who said her
musical knowledge was limited to the likes of late bandleader Lawrence Welk,
threw out Williams' case, saying to the plaintiff, "I'm sure you're
a very nice gentleman, but you're a bit of a nudnik ... You should probably
find another business."
After the gavel went down, Lydon had the last word, sneering, "Fairly
obvious conclusion."

December 17th, 1997 - EXTRA
The new message board is now up and running.
If you run into any problems with it, or anything else, let me know!
December 17th, 1997
Hello and welcome to publicimageltd.com!
Yes, I felt it was definitely time to move forward with this site. So, here
we are - same great look, better location! And I'm very happy to inform
everyone that all of the video and sound clips are finally working now.
(I even added a few more too.)
The message board will still run off the old server, until I can get a newer
and much nicer looking one working on this end.
Well, that's about it for now! Keep checking back for lots more updates
- and thanks to everybody for making this site the best PiL/John Lydon site
on the net!

This small snippet was spotted recently
in "Entertainment Weekly" #407 from 11/28/97...
"What a Pistol"
JUDGE JUDY: "He interrupted, he flailed his arms, he looked generally disgusted,"
says Judy Scheindlin of Johnny Lydon (a.k.a. Rotten). the ex-Sex Pistol
stood accused of breaching a contract with Robert Williams, the drummer
he'd sacked from his 1997 tour. (Oh yeah, he was also accused of head-butting
the plaintiff.) But, says Judy, "once he understood that I wasn't going
to tolerate any theatrics--other than my own, of course--it was fine."

Quick status update: The message board,
search page and hit counter should all be working fine by now. Sounds should
also download fine too. But unfortunately, the videos still aren't available
yet.
November 28th, 1997
Is everybody still stuffed from all the
turkey and trimmings?! Well, I got a little motivated and redesigned some
of this site (interviews, sounds and the new video page). It should look
a whole lot better now - especially to all those who don't like the "plain"
white background.
The images section has been updated. It
now has about 2 more pages worth of high quality pics!
My mirror Geocities site is apparently down
right now, so all of the video and most of the sound clips are unavailable
to download at the moment. However, everything else should be working ok.
November 26th, 1997
The video section is now up and running.
It's off to a good start with four AVI movie clips I made earlier. Two of
which are from the Judge Judy show. The clips of "Open Up" and "Home" (especially)
may look a little crappy due to a very poor quality videotape copy I made
them off of. I'll also be adding about 20 more misc. pics to the images
section later on today as well. So... check back soon!
Also, the CGI scripts are still not working
most of the time (i.e. message board submission, search capabilities and
hit counter). No ETA on when they'll be fixed. (Thank you GTE.net!)
November 25th, 1997
Well, did everybody get to see it? Kind
of mixed reviews so far on the message board, but I loved it! I think the
nose-blowing bit is a personal favorite of mine. That, and the scene with
John hand-mimicking Williams who wouldn't stop rambling. I was a little
disappointed that they edited-out the "fly whizzed past my ear-hole" scene
that was included a few weeks ago in ET's coverage. None the less, it was
damn amusing to watch!
Now, on to some even better news...I got a new toy today. I'm sure it will
please everyone to know that it's none other than a video capturing device!
Which basically means the start of an AVI movie file library coming soon
(finally!). And yes, it will definitely include clips of those impossible
to find videos such as "Open Up" and "Home". Hopefully by later today, I'll
have had a chance to make a couple clips of yesterday's show for everyone
to download. In the meantime, I went ahead and put up some of the better
still images I took from the show. For now, they'll sit below until I have
a chance to make yet another "images" page. Enjoy!

The December 11th issue of Rolling Stone
has this very brief article about the Judge Judy show:
Objection! Rotten makes his case on the "Judge Judy" show.
No rock & roll swindle this time: Ex-Sex Pistol Johnny Rotten (ne' Lydon)
appeared on the TV court show Judge Judy to resolve a dispute with his former
drummer, Robert Williams. Williams claimed that Rotten owed him $5,000 after
firing him from Rotten's solo tour last summer; Rotten said Williams quit.
Judy ruled in Rotten's favor. "[Williams] talked himself into losing the
case," said Rotten. "I, however, was perfect for this arena."
(The article includes a picture of John from the taping, as seen before
in the October 23rd news.)

November 20th, 1997
The "Judy Judy" episode featuring Williams
vs. Lydon will be aired on Monday, November 24th. The broadcast times seem
to be varying greatly depending upon where you live, so be sure to check
your local listings and have your VCR's ready!
8 more sounds have been added to the sounds
section, including 4 samples from Lydon's Palace show in August. (They were
recorded in 11/8 mono to save space, so the sound isn't exactly CD quality.)
Sorry! This site was down for the last couple
of days due to GTE.net's worthless "upgrades" that they keep attempting.
In the process all the contents of the recent message board postings were
deleted. (In case you're wondering why your post isn't there anymore.) At
the time of this news update, the CGI scripts (message board submission
page, search capabilities and hit counter) have not been brought back up
yet. Until that time, additions to the message board or searches of this
site won't be possible.
October 30th, 1997
I've just learned that the "Judge Judy"
show will tentatively be aired on Monday, November 24th. As soon as that's
confirmed, I'll let you know.
Due to some obvious message board abuse,
I've had to implement a few rules which are now listed on the "create a
message" page. Please try and adhere to them so that everyone can use and
enjoy the message board.
If anybody has ever wondered what the lyrics
to the last verse of "Rules and Regulations" are, they've been added to
the lyrics page. As far as I know, they were never printed with the original
lyric inserts.

Here's the scoop on last night's "Entertainment
Tonight" segment about the "Judge Judy" show:
They basically described the premise of the show, talked about the case
and showed Judge Judy talking about her show and about having celebrities
on, etc. They played a few new clips showing John being completely animated,
which were hilarious to watch! They wrapped up the segment by mentioning
that the show will be aired "four weeks from tonight."
