The recent Lydon interview on BBC Radio 2 with
Jonathan Ross can now be heard for a limited time at BBC.co.uk John indicates
there may indeed be be some kind of Pistols 're-union' featuring several
unsigned bands.
We've also just gotten word (unconfirmed) that...
"Lydon will be touring with Madonna and Shane MacGowan in February of
next year playing Dublin, Cork, Manchester, London and 33 LA and New York
dates. It's called the "Superficial Tour" and John plays voice and accordion."
- We certainly hope so! Thanks to everyone who sent us today's news update!

Ask Johnny! Q Magazine will be interviewing
Lydon next month and you can submit your questions here! Maybe he'll even
answer those questions about the rumored 2nd Pistols reunion!

Happy 46th birthday to John
Lydon! Here's to many more!
An update on the two sitcoms John was reported
to have shot pilots for:
'Bad News Mr. Swanson' may not come to fruition. Various sources report
the lead actor (not Lydon) backed out of the project. Also, it appears it
wasn't been listed anywhere as a mid-season replacement. However the second
sitcom pilot, 'A Young Person's Guide to Becoming a Rock Star', is slated
for release as a mid-season replacement on the WB network in the US. Sometime
in March, we believe. Lydon, however, was not listd as being a cast member
in a recent Entertainment Weekly write-up about this show. Stay tuned...

We have added some good
high-quality pics of John and company at the recent Q Awards.
December 19, 2001
Many rumors are swirling
about regarding a possible second Sex Pistols reunion to mark Queen
Elizabeth's 50 years on the throne and to mark the 25th anniversary of the
infamous Thames riverboat ride the Pistols took that June day in 1977 (see
links below). This would all speculatively take place on June 3rd, 2002.
While these all seem to be unconfirmed rumors (albeit from some semi-credible
news sources) John recently denied knowing anything about it during an interview
at the Q Awards (which includes some interesting photos, too). Stay tuned
for more info...

Some great news on 'The
Independent' finally getting a distributor...
To All Who Have Visited Finemanfilms.com Over The Past Year And A Half:
The Independent is finally being released theatrically. It opens 11/30 in
New York, and 12/7 in Los Angeles. Janeane Garofalo is scheduled for Conan
Thanksgiving night, and Jerry Stiller is scheduled for Conan on November
27th. We have a mention in December's Vanity Fair, and will be getting other
publicity over the next couple of weeks.
For those of you in the New York and Los Angeles areas, we hope you and
your friends will come see the film. For everyone else, finemanfilms.com
is still up and running.
Arrow Flies Independent
Arrow Features acquires Jerry Stiller-Janeane Garofalo comedy.
By Claire Runitz
Get ready for big screen comedy: The Independent, starring Jerry Stiller
and Janeane Garofalo. Arrow Features has acquired theatrical, homevideo/DVD
and international rights to the Stephen Kessler (Vegas Vacation) film, which
is scheduled to be released in December.
The film's plot revolves around relentlessly independent filmmaker legend
Morty Fineman (Stiller), who, during his long career, has made 427 pseudo-serious
exploitation films with titles like 12 Angry Men and a Baby and Right to
Live, Left to Die. In desperation, Morty enlists his estranged daughter
(Garofalo) to help save his struggling film company from bank foreclosure.
The cast also includes Max Perlich, Ethan Embry, Karen Black, Julie Strain,
Andy Dick, Nick Cassavetes, Brittany Andrews, Ron Howard, Roger Corman and
Johnny Rotten. Ben Stiller appears in an uncredited cameo, the least he
can do for his dad after Zoolander.
The appropriately independent film has already received critical praise.
It got kudos at the South by Southwest Festival and the Aspen Comedy Festival,
and received the Grand Jury prize at this year's Slamdunk Festival at Park
City.
And Urban lets us know that today marks the
25th anniversary of the release of 'Anarachy In the UK' (EMI 2566, Friday
November 26, 1976).

Lydon is a Formula 1 fan?!
Lex reports that on the www.f1racing.net site there is an amusing article
entitled 'Jordan gets a 'Rotten' visit', which gives a short summary of
John's very recent visit to the Jordan Formula 1 team's factory.
Read it - it's very funny!

Additional Q-Awards reports
are coming in...
Dave tells us...
"Firstly, contrary to reports, it was NOT a horse drawn carriage that John
and Nora arrived in, but a Horse and Cart - as in the UK TV series "Steptoe
& Son". JOHN'S Q AWARD RANTS During Elvis Costello's performance "Oh wonderful!!
Bloody Wonderful!! You were boring then and you're fucking boring now!"
To Starsailor "Nice of you to have made the fucking effort and dressed up
for the occasion!" To Q photographer "Fuck off you wanker! You've sprayed
beer all over my fucking shoes you clumsy cunt! What the fuck do you think
you're doing? Fuck off!" And in reply to "Do you recognise any of the latter-day
American punks as worthy flag-bearers?" "Of course not. That's MY time -
where's YOURS? Why are you imitating MY youth? I had to earn my wings. These
punk hairdos - I had to fight many a street battle to survive. This did
not come easy. This is hardcore shit (points at Rick McMurray - mohawk drummer
with ASH). There are people here with those hairdos and spectacles. It's
LUDICROUS!!"
And Stu tells us on the Message Board...
"(from the new edition of Q) 'i'm anti terrorist and anti stupidity.Bombing
tents with million dollar weapons doesn't show a great deal of suss. And
to pick a battle before the afghan winter is (Rolls eyes) really naive. The
only troops who are prepared to deal with that are the SAS,who train in
Snowdonia. Ther isn't a Yank alive who can deal with that kind of battle.
WHERE WERE YOU ON THE 11TH SEPTEMBER??? JL 'with my cousin Bin Lydon. WHAT
DO YOU MAKE OF GEORGE W BUSH ?? JL-'He's not the smartest bloke in the world
but i believe he has a good heart.'"
- Thanks to you both for the news updates!

Here is a direct link to
footage of John accepting (well, sort of) his Inspiration Award at last
week's Q Awards Ceremony. If this link dies, let us know and we'll try and
repost it.
We have also added several pics of John at the
awards in the images section.
Lastly, Brian lets us know of a link to a hilarious
article about John at the Q Awards and the many interesting events that
occurred throughout the evening with him. Great read! Thanks Brian!
October 30, 2001
As you may have read on
the message board, Lydon was the recipient of Q Magazine's 'Inspiration
Award' for his influence on music, awarded during the annual Q Magazine
Awards Ceremony in London. Lydon, who arrived by horse drawn carriage, quickly
gave the award away. Below are several links reporting on his award ceremony...
- Thanks to everyone who sent in the award info.

Mike sends us a link to
a RealAudio sampled French radio interview John did in November of 2000.
It can be found here about half way down the page and the actual interview
starts at about 16:10. This seems to be different, but around the same time
he did another interview that we reported on back in November (see old news
for the link).
October 11, 2001
Hard to believe it's been
a month already.
A link to a new Lydon interview can be found
here. It's a good read and gives us long awatied updates on a great many
things, the most intriguing of which is Lydon's prospect of his "Magic Box"
endeavor. An image of a Carnival Barker or an Organ-Grinder with a monkey
comes to mind... 'Step right up, folks!'

Now, onto unimportant site information...
Sorry for no updates for a while.
A... There wasn't any Lydon news, except for the Pistols auction a couple
weeks ago.
B... I recently moved back home to the West Coast recently and was very
busy with the whole project of unpacking, settling, etc.
C... The main page has been indefinitely changed to reflect this site's
support in the War on Terrorism.
D... Lastly, hopefully we'll all get some good news coming soon on some
the rumored Lydon projects that were in the works recently.

'Urban' alerts us to the
following news over at nme.com...
MANCHESTER GETS ROTTEN
JOHN LYDON is to be joined by former ROLLING STONES manager ANDREW LOOG
OLDHAM to deliver a keynote speech at the tenth annual IN THE CITY music
convention in MANCHESTER at the end of September.
This year's convention takes place in the city from September 29 to October
2 with band showcases, club events, discussion panels with industry figures

This site has just acquired
the ultra-rare and obscure 1997 Psycho's Path souviner concert tour t-shirt.
Pictures can be found here. These shirts were sold exclusively at official
kiosks outside each venue during the short-lived John Lydon solo-tour (roughly
three or four concerts out of the original 32 shows including the Japan
shows) and have not been available since. (Note: The shirt-artists obviously
used the original Japanese CD cover art work to design the front of the
shirt, hence the red square that is absent on US versions of the CD, but
apparent on original releases of the solo CD.) This shirt is sleveless by
manufacturer, but if you know of a different version or would like to donate
pics, hit the link above.
July 7th, 2001
Welcome to the new version
of john-lydon.com! If you experience any problems of any kind, please let
us know right away so that we can fix them immediately.
The transcript from last
Saturday's Film Four chat is now available here at their website or here
at our site, in the event the first link becomes dead.
Thanks to everyone who has
sent in their suggestions or thoughts on the upcoming film version of John's
autobiography. If you did not get a reply, don't worry - they were forwarded
to the right people. If you haven't sent us anything or would like to send
in additional feedback, please feel free to.
Since this film project
has been "greenlighted", we have created a separate section for it which
will feature news, cast info, etc. as information comes in.
There is a newly added scan
of an older publicity shot of John in the images section.
Finally, we added the missing
"mystery line" from Bad Life in the lyric section.
