According to dotmusic.com,
John will be treating fans to a webchat this week after a documentary
about the band is broadcast on British television Saturday June 30th at
10:00pm (BST) and the webchat will follow at 11.45pm at www.filmfour.com/chat.
Visit their site for more info and be sure to watch F&F (if you live there)
and then join in on the chat Saturday night! FYI, subtract 5 hours for
EST. They also have a related article at the bottom about a Sex Pistols
play that they can't find an actor to play Rotten for!
"Lizard" writes in alerting us to the following
quote by John about Courteney Love...
"It's hard for us to make money when no one wants us anymore. Courtney
is just looking for something to bring in the bread. If I really wanted
the money that bad, I could just go get some of Sid's ashes."
- Quoted in the THE STATE Newspaper in Columbia, SC - Friday, June 22nd.
A couple new images are online in the images
section. A Schlitz Beer ad John did and a picture of John and Nora. Both
are from the March 1992 issue of Q Magazine that we finally scanned.
Lastly, don't anyone miss the annual 4th of
July message from John on the main page! Enjoy!

SPY REPORT...
An inside source has confirmed that the long-rumored film based on John
Lydon's autobiography has now been written and approved. As we reported
in May 1999, the movie - based on the book 'No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs'
- is being put together by Rhino Films in association with John Lydon.
We have spoken to an insider who has seen the script, which is doing the
rounds in London and L.A. We understand that the script has been written
by Jeremy Drysdale, an English writer, and that a director is soon to
be appointed. The cast still has to be chosen.
We hope to provide more details as this project progresses, and ask that
you send us one thing you would like to ask those 'in the know' if you
had the chance (relating to this current project). This could be anything
ranging from what the film should be called (currently: 'Rotten'), suggestions
for cast members, or even what events should be included. We'll see if
we can get the questions to someone involved in the production of the
movie.
We'll bring you more as it happens!

E! Online is reporting
that the WB Network's fall schedule will include a midseason entry which
co-stars Lydon as the main character's father. Here's the good stuff...
Kate Hudson's bro, Oliver Hudson, stars in 'A Young Person's Guide
to Becoming a Rock Star', based on the British comedy series about an
aspiring rock star who lays out his goals for world domination. But viewers
should tune in if for no other reason than to see John Lydon (aka Johnny
Rotten) playing Hudson's dad.
Two new TV shows in the works now, it seems.
- Thanks to Sarah for the link!
John recently spoke to Mao Magazine. Here's
a bit of what he had to say...
"Yeah, there are similarities, but I give him (Eminem) more kudos than
Sid."
He also talks about touring again.
- Thanks to Paul, Tom and Joan for the link!

Screen captures from the
Independent Film Channel's recent Cult Film Festival are now online. From
what we watched of it, he was introducing each film in what appeared to
be very brief pre-taped segments with short commentary. We've been told
that the other John that was with him is his old friend Rambo.

John has possibly been
cast as the Grim Reaper in an upcoming FX Network television show titled
"Bad News, Mr. Swanson". Here are the few details we know about this 'in-the-works'
cable show...
FX is ramping up its original programming
with a development slate of over 40 projects including scripted, filmed
comedies, one-hour dramas, reality series and original movies announced
Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment for FX.
Bad News, Mr. Swanson, is an outrageous comedy about a man who finally
begins to live his life on the day he finds out he's dying. It is written
by Daryl Rowland and Lisa DeBenedectis, who worked on the HBO series Dream
On.
FX Loads Up Varied Slate
FX has good news for "Bad News, Mr. Swanson" and more than 40 other
projects the cable network is developing for next season. The slate includes
comedies, hour dramas, reality series and original movies, according to
Kevin Reilly, president of entertainment for FX. Along with "Bad News,"
a comedy about a man who decides to live when he finds out he is dying,
two half-hour comedy series are in the pilot stage.
Finally, we know that casting calls for supporting
roles were completed in January and February. FX is a fledgling (we finally
got to use that word!) cable/satellite channel featuring Howard Stern's
"Son of the Beach" as its flagship comedy programming. More on this new
show as it develops. Send us info (above), if you have it.

In response to all the e-mails we've received,
a final answer about the following...
- Rotten TV is dead. Disagreements on show direction apparently.
- Rotten Radio... ditto, no more archives either. Same mess. We feel 'skinwalker'
sums this all up best...
The shows were great...showing a side of John not a lot of people
expect...and the subjects he covered were great, not just him and his
music, but everything.

Forty-five years ago today
on January 31st, 1956, John Lydon was born. Happy Birthday!! Though, there
remains today some question as to exactly where he was born...
"There was some mystery about my birth certificate. Where I was actually
born. But, at the moment it says Highgate. Which is a cemetery near the
hospital (in London)." - John Lydon on 'The Late Late Show with Tom
Snyder', May 23rd, 1997
January 23rd, 2001

Promo Web alerts
us to a recent interview John did while he was in France. It's a little
difficult to listen to, since the real-time French audio translation is
louder than John actually talking, but it's still enjoyable to watch.
You can check it out by clicking the picture below.

Here's some more info
on John's Paris premiere, courtesy of Cyril...
"...immediately after the premiere, Rotten appeared on French television.
He was one of the guests on "Tout le monde en parle," an off-beat, Q&A
show. How do I know this? The show is aired in North America on TV5, an
international francophone channel offering news and shows from the world's
major French language broadcasters. Here in Canada, TV5 is available on
local cable TV. The Rotten episode aired last night ( the 2-week delay
could be partly due to the fact that the show is normally held back until
a week or 2 after it is aired on French TV). Anyway, Rotten was very entertaining
during his 15-20 minutes in the spotlight. It was quite interesting to
see French audience reaction to his viewpoint on such things as politics,
the monarchy, Sid Vicious' death, leaders vs. followers, and drugs. His
answers to hypothetical questions (e.g. Q. What type of death would you
like to be? A. The plague.) were brilliant."
Another Sex Pistols reunion?! We've heard
this rumored here-and-there recently and now Roy tells us about a tidbit
that appeared on 'DOT Music' recently (no link to provide right now)...
Rumours currently circulating suggest that the Sex Pistols may be about
to reform again. The legendary punk band, who reunited for a series of
concerts in 1996, are allegedly lining up an appearance at the Revolution
event on New Year's Eve at Alexandra Palace in London.
The Revolution line-up already features Primal Scream, Asian Dub Foundation
and a host of top-name DJs. The Sex Pistols originally split in 1978 but
reunited in 1996 with original member Glen Matlock replacing the late
Sid Vicious on bass. They played sell-out shows across the world, and
released a souvenir live album, 'Filthy Lucre Live', featuring songs recorded
at their first reunion concert at London's Finsbury Park.
However, they went their separate ways again at the end of the tour amid
rumours suggesting that the band members still didn't get on with each
other. This year saw the release of a highly-acclaimed documentary film
about the band entitled 'The Filth And The Fury'.
NOTE: Please keep in mind that when John was asked about this a few months
ago on eYada.com, he stated that he knew nothing of a reunion and speculated
that at the very least, it had nothing to do with him participating.
So, if this is true about a reunion, I would only expect Steve, Paul and
Glen at best to show up.
November 21st, 2000
This item is a little
over a week old (our fault), but still great news!
Just to let you know that John Lydon (announced as Johnny Rotten)
attended last night (Nov. 9) the premiere of "The Filth and the Fury"
in Paris, at the Max Linder Panorama. Julian Temple was also there. Julian
alone (and a translator, of course) introduced the film, and when it ended
John made his appearance to a big applause from the audience. He stood
there to answer questions from the public for about 5 minutes, and even
got into an argument with someone who was complaining that the Pistols
never played in Northern Ireland (JL said that they never let them into
the country). When asked when will he make a new album he replied: "Immediately,
now that there is an interest...", making reference to the good response
to the film. It is worth mentioning that the film in France is translated
as "L'obscenité et le fureur", which is a bit ridiculous.
- Thanks to Rogelio!
