Something Rotten
Johnny Rotten, host of VH-1's "Rotten Television", sat down with Ventura
for a one-on-one interview set to air Oct. 29. "I think the interview
went fine," Rotten said. "I'm interested in the third party alternative.
I also want the fourth, fifth and sixth. Variety is the spice of life.
One more choice is no choice." Amy Gunzenhauser, associate producer of
the show that reaches 72 million households, said the interview focused
on voters' rights and the political season. "(Ventura) speaks for the
people and the young people," Gunzenhauser said. "He's true, he's real.
He's a very powerful figure among young people." Rotten, a former member
of the Sex Pistols, the infamous punk rock band, said when people don't
vote they're throwing away their democracy. "I've seen many political
systems in the world and none is better than democracy," Rotten said.

Catch the interview from
the other day now - hurry! Absent of the songs every few minutes, it's
a pretty good listen.
Allen tells us that the other day's BBC Outlook interview can still be
heard at...
-Thanks Allen!!

Better late than never...
"G'day, Last night I heard an interview with Mr. Lydon (oh so formal
aren't we?) on the BBC show Outlook. Will that audio show up on your site
anytime soon? I found it briefly on their site but it is gone now (probably
banned, or worse yet lost in their archives)."
Later
John
- Thanks for the info John!
(I doubt we'll ever get the audio, and we still always wish we could get
this info before it airs. we're trying harder!)

I received some more information
regarding the current status of Rotten Radio:
"his eyada show is not cancelled - it's under renegotiation. be suspicious
of "insider information" without getting it from the true horse's mouth."
- Please note that the 9/13 update and today's update were both from
reliable sources, even though the information conflicts. Looks like we'll
just have to see how it all plays out! It least it's no longer a definite
"done deal".

As if it couldn't get
any worse folks - (first rottentv.com suddenly redirects to mtv.com, then
we get weeks of eYada.com reruns) - to top it all off - well, read the
following:
We just received some unfortunate news regarding the current status of
eYada.com's Rotten Radio...
"John has been on hiatus since the Democratic National Convention and
I don't believe there will be another show. Sorry I can't be more specific
at this time, but I'll keep you posted on any official dictum. Thanks
for your continued support."
- Thanks to an anonymous source for the info. Of course, we'd love
to see the show back on sometime soon.

This just in from someone
in the know regarding Rotten TV Episode III...
"Next episode on the presidential election scheduled to air on VH1
on Sunday night, 10/29 ! in production now...."
- That's great news!! We were all afraid it was put on hiatus. Now
if we could only figure out what's up with the eYada reruns...?

There are a couple items
to check out today...
A recent MSNBC interview that's hilarious!
And Simon wants to tell us that "there is a great article in today's
Independent newspaper in the UK (front page of Review Section) regarding
John's coverage of the Democratic Party convention in the US." So
check that out if you can.
-Thanks to Zachery and Simon for the updates!
August 3rd, 2000
Zachery writes in to confirm
yesterday's update...
In todays issue of the Columbus Dispatch there was an interesting
article about John Lydon running into local Republican John Kasich at
a bar in Philedelphia for the RNC. The article also mentioned that Lydon
is filming there for Rotten TV.
- Thanks for the update Zachery!
August 2nd, 2000
John was rumored to be
spotted at the RNC this week. InferentialKid reports the following...
Saw (John) with an MTV crew at the Republican National Convention on
Monday. (Talking to some radical breast feeding group!) Will this be on
VH-1 or some MTV political special?
- We could only hope this is early Rotten TV - Episode III in the works!
Thanks for the info, InferentialKid!!

L.A.: JOHNNY ROTTEN AND LIONEL
TO COVER
DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION FOR EYADA.COM
New York
City, July 26, 2000 - If you thought the upcoming Democratic
National
Convention was going to be about as thrilling as, well, Al
Gore, think
again.
Internet
talk radio powerhouse eYada.com http://www.eyada.com
announced
today that the Democratic National Convention Committee has
approved
press credentials for two of its most outspoken and
opinionated
hosts: former Sex Pistol Johnny Rotten and veteran talk
radio prankster
Lionel.
"Who'd
have thought that one of the world's most famous anarchists
would be
allowed into the world's smokiest political backroom," said
Bob Meyrowitz,
CEO and founder of eYada.com. "Never mind Rather,
Jennings,
and Brokaw. Rotten and Lionel's in-your-face, over-the-top
coverage
is going to turn this convention on its head."
"Convention,
contention, and conversation," said Rotten, when asked
to describe
what listeners can expect. "I'll be on the offense and
the defense,
but I will never sit on the fence."
Promising
the most unconventional of convention coverage, eYada.com
will beam
Lionel live from Los Angeles' Staples Arena on Monday,
August 14th
beginning at 7PM EST. "Rotten Politics" with Johnny
Rotten will
air live from the convention on Tuesday, August 15th at
7PM EST.
Besides providing running commentary on the convention
itself, Rotten
and Lionel will conduct live interviews with everyone
from celebrity
delegates to Democratic officials, lawmakers, and
candidates.
Like other eYada.com programs, the coverage will be
archived
on the site for those who miss the live broadcast.
One of the
Internet's leading entertainment companies, eYada.com
features
three channels - Entertainment, Sports, and Health, Fitness
& Adventure
- and showcases 19 shows and more than 200 hours of live,
original
talk
programming
each week.
"Rotten
Radio", which airs live every Saturday from 4-8pm EST on
eYada.com,
features Rotten mouthing off on everything from politics
to pop culture
with guests such as political troublemaker Arianna
Huffington,
Harry Brown, the Libertarian Presidential candidate, and
Charles Lewis,
founder of the Center of Public Integrity.
A former
prosecutor, Court TV host, and New York radio talk-show
personality,
Lionel's show airs weekdays from 9-Noon EST. Twice
named one

THE Interpreters
U.S.S.A., an unsigned band originally from Philadelphia,
has been
tapped by Gov. George W. Bush to add a little rock 'n' roll flavor
to his conventional
ways...
Meanwhile,
Johnny Rotten - also know as John Lydon - will go behind the mike
at the
Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles later next month.
But the
former Sex Pistols front man won't be crooning "Anarchy in the
U.S.A."
Rotten will cover the event for eYada.com, an Internet talk radio
station.
Listeners
can expect "convention, contention, and conversation," said
Rotten
in a statement.
"I'll be on the offense and the defense, but I will never
sit on
the fence."
Besides
providing unconventional commentary, Rotten will interview celebrity
delegates,
Democratic officials, lawmakers and candidates.
Rotten
regularly runs "Rotten Radio," which airs Saturday on eYada.com.
The Interpreters
will open the Republication convention Monday.

John recently attended
the Libertarian National Convention in Anaheim, California. Why, you
ask? Read the following...
Libertarians nominate Harry Browne for presidency
Harry Browne wants voters to recognize his name when they go to the
polls in November. For a third party candidate who is not a celebrity,
this is seldom a small task.
Browne received the Libertarian Party's nomination for president at
the party's national convention in Anaheim last weekend, where amid
the suits and ties, delegates also wore hats and shirts made of the
American flag to show their support for self-government and personal
liberties.
Among those attending the convention was former Sex Pistols lead
singer John Lydon -- also known as Johnny Rotten. One of the band's
most famous songs is "Anarchy in the U.K," which might explain Lydon's
attraction to the Libertarian Party's ideals.
Entertaining a small crowd gathered around him, Lydon said the Libertarian
Party offers a "viable alternative" to America's two-party system. "The
Reform Party is a joke; it's Ross Perot's tool," he said. "The Green
Party has good will and no content. They don't understand that people
are just nasty."

The July 3rd New York
Daily News had a brief write-up regarding a comparison between Baseball
Player John Rocker and Johnny Rotten! Here's the excerpt:
...Meanwhile, ex-Sex Pistol Johnny Rotten doesn't like headline
writers conferring his adopted surname on the Braves hurler.
"I resent being likened to this Neanderthal," says the www.eYada.com
webhost, who was born John Lydon.
"He's a national numbskull."
- Thanks to Johnny Turd for the update!

Sorry for no updates
lately. No news is to blame. F&F is out - almost all over, and we know
it's great. Go see it. Of interest may be a recent Australian inteview
John did...
- Thanks to Mary for the info!
I have no idea what's going on with Rotten
TV. The site has been down forever, and vh1.com has no mention of its
status. I've e-mailed those "In the Know" and haven't received a response
yet. I'm sure it's not canceled, due to its popularity, but it may be
a simple promotional problem, which we all know VH1 is well guilty of.
As soon as there's word of Episode III, you'll read it hear first!
And, lastly, sorry for not responding to
everyone's e-mails. I got a new computer and the whole transfer project
went to shit and I'm still catching up. Thanks for everyone who sent
us mail, it just might take a bit to sift through it - please be patient.
If you stumble onto news, as always, please let us know! Thanks for
visiting!!

Not much other news recently.
- Thanks Mike!

... Just a couple quick items to clear out the
news-cobwebs...
A new documentary article/interview is available
at National Post Online.
- Thanks to Paul
rottentv.com is back online after being
down for a bit. No updates on Episode III just yet.
And lastly, eYada.com now has the entire
archives of John's Saturday show available to listen to - most include
a brief description of the day's callers.

Here is the link to
John's second Politically Incorrect appearance from Monday. (courtesy
ABC)
The new issue of TIME Magazine has a brief
interview with John in it. Here is a small, albeit hilarious, excerpt:
Bloody hell! My tape recorder is losing power in the middle of an
interview with John Lydon .
Surprisingly, Lydon volunteers to help out. "Does anyone have some double-A
batteries for a rather large vibrator?" he bellows to startled young
assistants and executives down the hall.
Adding to the embarrassment, we're doing the interview at the offices
of the kiddie cable channel Nickelodeon...
For the rest of this article, please check your local newsstands. The
official TIME Magazine site hasn't posted the interview yet.
- Thanks to Brian, Laurie and Kim and for the updates!
